Our Top 5 brand new spots to check out in Jozi
We love our eating out Hello Joburgers, and the fact that we covered some restaurants last week that had closed down made us a bit sad – so off we went on a mission to find news restaurants – and cool spots to enjoy! Happy noshing:
Momo Soko – Illovo
First we had Momo Bauhaus – and now we have Momo Soko! Located in The Muse Centre in Illovo expect a modern Asian eatery that’s already proving to follow in its sister restaurant’s successful footsteps.
The menu’s are quite similar – so expect loads of tapas-inspired dishes, bao buns, skewers (soko), poke and momo bowls.
Septimo – Sandton
Located on the bustling Nelson Mandela Square, Septimo is a 3rd generation traditional Italian Restaurant, and the smells of freshly baked breads wafting out of it’s doors are almost irresistible…
Get a load of this – they make everything in house. Fresh pasta and sauces made daily, and their bakers are up far before daybreak so that you can break the freshest bread daily. Enjoy with their dinners, in the form of a delicious sandwiches or just buy a loaf still warm from the oven to take home with you, Hello Joburgers.
Expect delicious Bruschetta’s, Ravioli’s and much much more…
Sin and Taxes – Rosebank
Renowned mixologist Julian Short’s latest offering around the back of The Bolton Road Collection. Not only is everyone raving, but there is no booking list, so you need to make sure you arrive early to get a seat. The venue is small and exclusive and seats at maximum about 40 people.
The menu is unique and offers drinks that are uniquely created using Julian’s “root to leaf” approach – so expect buchu infusions, tinctures and herbs and bitters etc. They focus mainly on drinks, and bar snacks are available.
Rather Tart – Morningside
Located in Morningview Centre – this is the new place to be seen, and eat yummy pastries and sweet goodies. They say on their website – and we quote “The best crepes and belgian waffles in Jo’burg!”
They also do catering for events and occasion – good to know – and make guest appearances at Neighbourgoods Market and The Fourways Farmers Market.
That Spot on 4th – Parktown North
We love this super cosy daytime deli and eatery in Parktown North. The decor is beautiful and the vibe is chilled. Enjoy fresh salads and smoothies, flatbreads, yummy breakfasts and homemade beverages.
They boast free wifi, ready-made meals for dinner, and are open from 07h30 to 17h00. Join them for coffee, breakfast, lunch or a glass of wine…
