Get revived with a Vitamin Drip at Beauty & Curves

May 15, 2018, Author: Hello Joburg

In what is fast becoming a trend among not only celebs and athletes, but your soccer mom’s, your industrious varsity students and even those among us who work crazy hours and odd days of the week – enter the Vitamin Drip!

Telling people you are going for a Vitamin Drip these days is just about as common as saying you are just popping out to get groceries, and just about as popular too.

We recently caught up with Dr. Fatima Bhabha & Dr Zaheda Bhabha who are the superwoman making a huge difference in the Aesthetics and Medical Industry for Women – by Women, which we love. Their aesthetics practice, Beauty & Curves is located in Bedfordview and offers a wide variety of treatments, including IV Therapy/Infusions.

What is a Vitamin Drip, actually?

Intravenous (IV) therapy or Infusion therapy is a method of feeding vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants directly into the bloodstream to correct intracellular nutrient deficiencies and help numerous health concerns. There are various drips to choose from, based on your bodily and health needs, and we can ascertain what is required once we meet and chat to the patient.

Why is an intravenous vitamin drip more effective than tablets or supplements?

The body is only capable of absorbing 20% of oral supplements due to breakdown in the gut, whilst intravenous vitamin infusions ensure that you absorb 100% of the vitamins, minerals and amino acids as they are delivered straight into your blood stream – an instant kick and instant action.

What are the benefits of IV drips?

A few of the conditions that may be helped using IV nutrition techniques include hypertension, asthma, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes, hepatitis and even the common cold.

What can we expect when we do an IV Drip?

IV Therapy is a minimally invasive treatment that is well tolerated by most people. A very small ‘butterfly’ needle or a micro-catheter is used to infuse the prescribed supplements. The treatment usually lasts 60 minutes and there is no down-time.

Does it hurt?

Not at all. There may be some discomfort when the needle is inserted, and the liquid begins to flow in to the body, but no longer than a minute or so, and after that you can relax as the treatment is administered.

Are there any side-effects?

There is a very low risk of serious adverse side effects which may include a slight after-taste of supplements shortly after the infusion. Urine may also have a strong odor or color shortly after completion. Some patients may also experience a sensation of warmth and flushing or feel a cooling sensation as the IV is administered, and some may experience a head rush and a burst of energy afterwards too.

Who has these drips with you?

We treat many celebrities and media personalities including actress, Dineo Moeketsi; DJ Zinhle and Miss World 2016, Candice Abrahams are among the big names that trust Beauty & Curves with all their Aesthetics needs.
