Meet Jenny Richardson and Bruce Clarke from Bellinis
Most people don’t eat out because they’re hungry, they go for the experience – and if an experience is what you’re after, then laidback eatery Bellinis is for you!
Created as a casual local hangout 26 years ago, restaurateurs Jenny Richardson and Bruce Clarke, together with their team, have built an establishment whether friends come to share a bite or celebrate a special occasion.
Bruce started a string of restaurants in Melville almost 40 years ago, with Jenny waitressing for him, before joining Jenny again at Bellinis a decade ago. For Bruce and Jenny, every day presents a new experience for regulars to return, or first-timers to frequent this hot spot.
Bellinis receives fresh, handpicked ingredients twice daily, and everything is prepared on the premises. However, you won’t find any garlic in the kitchen as Bruce and Jenny don’t like it in their food. They don’t like garnish either and keep their plating simple because that’s what they love. They’re proud of what they present, even when it comes to their wine list, as they have carefully selected the bottles from their favourite winemakers.
The menu is small and simple, and whilst ingredients vary, Jenny and Bruce strive for consistency, because people come back for dishes they love and have come to know well. Bruce and Jenny would love to be dined by Heston Blumenthal, as he’s taken the restaurant experience to another level.
To be a restaurateur, you’ve got to love it. With a palpable passion for what they do, even the photographs on the wall have all been taken by Jenny and Bruce – which is another way that they share their lives with their Bellinis customers, who have become more than friends, but family.
