Orion Hotels and Resorts – the perfect place to unwind
From humble beginnings 18 years ago, the Orion Hotel Group have always set out to give their guests amazing experiences and with stringent standards in place and a promise of getting better every day in every way.
Founded by Franz Gmeiner, the CEO of Orion Group, today they are proud to present 10 beautiful properties, and there are so many more exciting projects to come.
The Devonshire Hotel in Braamfontein, built in the 1930’s, was the first Orion Hotel, and was actually one of the first buildings built in the CBD of Johannesburg back in the day!
The hotel remains at its original site, and has been renovated several times over the years. We love that there are still remnants of the original building, including some beautiful woodwork in the passages and some of the restaurant menus from the 1930’s and other memorabilia around, just to remind you of an era gone by.
The Devonshire Arms, is the hotel’s English Pub and has come to life with a beautiful set-up, live music and special events on request for their regular clients – and you would be forgiven for thinking you were enjoying an ale in an old English pub in the old country, Hello Joburgers!
Orion Safari Lodge Hotel and Convention centre is situated at the foothills of the Kloof in Rustenburg, and guests come from far and wide – attracted by the natural beauty and surroundings. Safari is known for its conference facilities and can host up to 600 delegates with ease. Safari Lodge is located just 44 kilometers from Sun City and the Pilanesberg National Park, ideal to spend the day with the family on an outing in to nature.
Ditholo Game Lodge is set just 60km outside of Bela Bela – in a district full of lush bushveld and boasting lots of different wildlife and birds – over 230 different bird species to be exact, making it a must visit bird watchers paradise.
The location is just perfect for a romantic getaway as well as a family holiday. The lodge has one of the big 5 on site – the Buffalo, but there are also hundreds of interesting animals to look out for. Ditholo also proudly runs a conservation program for animals ranging from black impala to the buffalo.
The conservation programme is a great way to educate guests on the importance of protecting our wildlife here in South Africa.
Each Orion Hotel has their own personality, with their own themes, looks and feel, which makes them so very unique, and have over the last 18 years, grown from strength to strength in many ways and with the 2018 on our doorstep, they have so many exciting new projects in the pipeline , on top of making their 10 properties some of the best in the country.
