Hair is as versatile as it’s owner – and can be ever changing – wear it up, wear it down, colour it, shave it off, whatever floats your boat. We celebrate being able to change our hair styles depending on our mood and our outfit and have selected our Top 5 fave hair style trends right now…
The High Pony
No need to get on your high horse for this one, HJ. The high pony is flashing it’s way across red carpets and celebrity events all over SA right now. It also works equally well with your fave jeans and t-shirts and you can vary it from sleek to messy depending on your vibe. Wrap a strand around the base to hide the elastic, or get creative with ribbons in this years Pantone Colour – Ultra Violet – trend setter right there!
To keep it sleek, we use ghd’s Straight and Tame Cream- R 220
Fringes are back in a big way! If you are forehead shy – then the fringe is for you. From side fringes to heavy and light – they really can change up your look immediately. Tip – never cut your own fringe, we have all heard those disaster stories!
If you have a wispy fringe – don’t overload it with product – use a light misting of sea salt spray such as Osis by Schwarzkopf. Available at all good hair salons.
Keep it Natural
We were all born with different types of hair – but to be blessed with a head of curly hair is a wonderful thing. Tame the frizz and embrace your curls for a variety of different looks, go big, go tighter or pin it back, get creative.
Word on the street is that L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil All Hair Types is the bomb, and a few of our team use it too!
Platinum is always the way to go, from bank cards to jewellery – and of course your hair. Make sure you visit a hair care professional to help you get your colour just right and avoid excessive hair damage or breakage by using at home products.
Tip: Prevent unwanted brassiness by using Hannon’s Colour Infusion Shampoo in Platinum, R185 for 250ml.
Short and To The Point!
Or was that on pointe? Celebs everywhere are rocking the short “do” and for good reason – its easy to manage and allows a fair amount of versatility – from scrunched curls to sleek and demure – we are just loving this look right now!
We swear by Redken Volumize Aerate for lifting and aerating short hair. Retails for roughly R 280 at most stores.
