TV news anchor, multi-award winning radio news journalist, wife and mother. Is there anything Thabile…
Local singing sensation Mmatema is soaring, literally. Her brand new album ‘Love Praise Worship’ is climbing up the charts, and her hit single ‘Ke Lerato’ is currently on rotation on most of our national stations.
A former reality star, actress, producer and musician, this young lady from Limpopo is one to keep your eye on!
We spent some time finding out about this powerhouse…
Tell us a bit about the new album, and how it came about, the process etc.
The new album is titled “Love Praise Worship” it basically speaks about the power of love through song, worship songs that give you that intimate moment with God and praise or dance songs that just resonate with who I am and that is someone who loves to have a good time and get down.
I recorded it live at the Atterburry theatre with a DVD as well all under my company “Mmatema Moremi Media Productions” who is the executive producer of the album.
It is a 15 track album with the hit track single “Kelerato” and it is filled with songs for the hearts of the people and songs that anyone can relate to. I did not feature anyone on this album as I have been featured on 3 artists albums already and I just wanted to get my sound and wanted people, my supporters to get used to it also.
It is available on iTunes and GooglePlay and all other digital store and will be available for physical purchase from the 6th March.
Idols, right? How was that experience and how do you think it has changed you – for the better, or the worse?
Idols was a great platform to launch myself and all other talents that were there and again gives you a platform for exposure to brands, producers and supporters to see you. It has been of huge assistance to me.
Whats next for you?
I’m presenting shows now, acting, a lot of music and growing the brand. I am working just one step at a time, its about the success for me, rather than the fame.
Books or movies and why?
Movies, I have done acting on the drama “Bone of my Bones” alongside Aubrey Poo and I woould like to grow more into that.
I learn as I watch movies, however the one “book” for me has to be the book of life as it teaches more and guides me even in my writing.
What is your favourite item of clothing right now?
It has to be comfortable dresses especially when I’m working.
What would we find in the CD player in your car right now, or on repeat on your ipod?
Ha ha! It will have to be my album, more than anything and I often find myself correcting more than just listening. Tasha Cobbs and Benjamin Dube are also favourites of mine.
What would be one piece of advice that you would give to aspiring singers?
Pray as hard as you plan and play. Stay true as much as you can to who you are and ALWAYS perfect your craft like you will be performing in two minutes time!
