Spree heats up the City Skyline

Shhh… can you hear that? That, Hello Joburgers, is the sound of the Summer Season, sizzling at our heels. It’s almost here! Bring on the mini-skirts, bring on the sandals, bring on the over-sized sunglasses, bring on the board shorts! Bring on the sexiest season of the year, finally! And how does one celebrate the formidable change of season? With Spree’s Summer showcase of course!

“Summer On My Skyline” is Spree’s latest Summer campaign, and we can’t help but admire it. It is the essence of us. It’s the campaign that raises a glass to enjoying Summer in the city, rather than the over-played coast-based campaign.

“We wanted to do things a little differently this season and keep summer in the city,” says Spree’s Creative Director, Chris Viljoen, “We were inspired by the vibrancy of Joburg’s Streets. The city has a fashion heartbeat like no other!” he exclaims.

The showcasing of the new Summer collection took place in mid-November, and was carried out in classic Joburg style. The Tin Factory hosted the event, and was decorated with the sounds of DJ COSMO’s beats, Hip Hop dancers who stepped on to the stage, and impressively choreographed models to set the Summer Fashion scene.

It was a refreshing Summer experience that was attended by Joburg’s most fashionable and most notable individuals such as fashion designer Rich Mnisi, artists, Kwesta, Shekhinah and Gemini Major and well-known fashionistas and media darlings. The scene at the event was photographed by renowned street-style photographers, Cedric Nzaka, Austin Malema, Niquita Bento and Jeffrey Rikhotso, and showed guests at their best.

The campaign itself is an ode to Summer in the city of Johannesburg, and the collection is bursting with colour, frills, florals and statement pieces. Viljoen also explains what we can expect when shopping the collection, “The hottest brands, up-to-date styling, plus the latest trends to take you through the summer season looking your absolute best!”

It’s official, Summer is here! So stand-out with Spree’s Summer collection, whose campaign was inspired by the city that we all know and love. Shop the collection here.
