The pearl of Brooklyn in Signature style
With the rise of Pretoria and its dining scene, we are extremely fortunate that we’re able to indulge in the finest that the jacaranda city has to offer…
Now, we’re sure you’re all familiar with Signature restaurant in Morningside Centre… but did you know they also have a branch in Brooklyn, Pretoria? This branch is as elegant as the latter, it’s the finest fine dining you could expect from owner and mastermind Desmond Mabuza.
We chatted to Desmond, and rather than experiencing the usual tedious conversation, it translated into his love and passion for food and people. You know when you’re not quite certain whether you’re visiting the restaurant for the owner or the food or the ambience? That’s the feeling you get with Signature. It’s like dining with your best friend at home – if your home was a luxurious manor with the finest tableware in town!
The recipe for this restaurant is rather simple; serving top-notch food with the finest quality ingredients, in a picturesque space. The sleek, sophisticated decor gives everything away in terms of the cuisine and offering. You know what to expect when you walk into this location, and fortunately for us, those great expectations have been met every time.
If you’ve visited the restaurant before you might be familiar with the famed salmon dishes – four to be exact. Expect lustrous beetroot stained, oil poached salmon; sweet salmon teriyaki; delicate orange glazed Scottish salmon, and finally salmon confit with saffron potato. Mouth watering yet?
You certainly don’t need an excuse to indulge in their dessert offerings.
These aren’t your average desserts; these are laced with decadence, gluttony and a whole lotta sugary goodness! How do you pick between the sultry trio of crème brulee, the signature soufflé, the Lindt chocolate fondant or the Ferrero Rocher tiramisu? Order them all. Perhaps don’t, as this might set you back R350. Instead order one or two and share. They’re rich, self-indulgent and hit all the right spots.
There’s no better way to combat the new year blues than with a delicious spread at Signature.
They’re open from 12 noon for lunch and dinner.
