Do you remember the first thing you ever designed? What was it?

Yes, I remember it clearly, I was eight years old, and my dad took me fabric shopping for the first time. I designed and sewed a navy-blue ballgown for my mom which I still have to this day.

The weirdest/funniest thing about being a mentor on project Runway?

All the behind-the-scenes secrets that I can’t share…

Your top 3 wardrobe essentials?

A glitzy blazer; blue jeans, and clothing items with pop iconography

Your favourite thing about the fashion industry in South Africa?

What I love is that the industry is still in its infancy and it is growing by the day. I feel that there is still a lot of exiting developments and achievements to come for the South African fashion industry.

How do you drink your coffee?

I don’t drink coffee, but if I have to it will be decaf with no sugar or milk.

What inspires you when creating a new collection?

I am inspired by women; I envision what a client would like and then work from there…. I think a woman’s body is the perfect canvas to work from.

Tell us one thing we might not know about being on a TV show?

You become like a family as you spend literally every waking moment together!

Your most memorable career moment to date?

When Kourtney Kardashian wore one of my creations to the People’s Choice Awards in 2011.

What do you do to de-stress?

I like to go away for spa weekends! And I love spending time with my family. I also meditate twice every day, without fail.

One fashion trend that you wish didn’t exist?

White shoes for men paired with white belts.

What’s the last thing you Googled?

I love online shopping, so the last thing I did was to buy a “zucchini spiralizer” – it makes pasta out of baby marrows….
