An attitude of Gratitude this New Year

While a list of New Years Resolutions may be the usual thing to do, we at Hello Joburg challenge you to try something different this year. We are compiling our Gratitude List right now – the theory being that what you are grateful for, and what you give thanks for, you will receive more of in the future.

Things to be grateful for:

Family

Friends

Your job

Your home

Your car

That you get to travel

Your lifestyle…you get the idea…

Ways to do it:

A written list

Write up a neat list of 3 – 10 items of things that you are thankful for. You can be as descriptive as you like. Place this list in a place that you will look at it every day, and read over it every day, like on the fridge, while you are waiting for the kettle to boil for your morning cuppa, or next to the bathroom mirror while you brush your teeth.

A vision board

While vision boards are old news, the power of visual images is something that you cannot escape. Select some images of things from magazines that mean loads to you, be it family, or your car, or things that represent your job or the like and paste them on an A4 or larger board that you keep above your desk. Another way to do this is a screen saver or desk top back ground that you see every day.

An audio to listen to

The power of affirmations are also enormous and doing affirmations is a powerful thing. Some of us listen to pre-recorded affirmation CD’s in the car, listening to the words and then repeating them, almost “projects” to the universe, if you will, what you want, or what you are thankful for.

You can also make your own. Record yourself saying a few lines over (maybe 5 times for each saying) and play this in the car to yourself. What better time than when you are in the car alone, right? Repeat the saying out loud to yourself.

I am grateful for …

Thank you for … that I have right now

I am so excited that I get to do ….

Thank the Universe

Offer up a quick few words in the morning when you wake up, or before you go to bed every night to just thank the Universe, or whatever power it is that you believe in, for everything that you have, and all that you will receive in the future.

Take a few moments to just be thankful

Our lives are just so crazy all of the time, every day, rushing from work, to gym, to dinner and other commitments, try to take a few minutes when you see something truly beautiful, or experience an amazing moment in your life to just stop, take a deep breath and be thankful for being alive and able to experience that moment fully.

Here’s to being truly grateful and thankful for all that we already have, because when you are grateful, more can only follow. Happy New Year, let’s make 2018 the best one yet, Hello Joburgers.
