Belle’s Blubird launches new menu

Jan 11, 2017, Author: Hello Joburg

A little bit of heaven makes the world go round! The sun is shining, the birds are singing and Belles Patisseries in the Blubird Shopping Centre has just launched their brand spanking new spring menu. We’re giddy!

We sat down with owner Linda Lipschitz, indulged in lunch (of course) and delved a little deeper into their new offering.

We asked Linda what she hoped to achieve from the new menu. She simply said, ‘It’s all about beautiful fresh, healthy food.’ After all, who wants to feel heavy and sluggish after a business lunch, or brunch with your bestie, right? To put her to the test, naturally we had to dive right in and try out a few options for ourselves.

Not only do we love the fact that the menu is fish only and has a variety of veggy options, but it’s diverse and really has something for everyone (unless you’re a carnivore, then sorry for you!). Exploring the different options, there were a pleasant surprises. They now serve African inspired sushi created by Belle’s sushi chef, Sakhile Joxo. It’s interesting, extravagant and just plain delicious. We recommend the crispy rice with salmon. We’re still dreaming about these little bundles of joy – jam-packed with freshness and rife with flavour, they were our faves! Another wonderful dish is the decadently rich baked Brie cheese with fig and walnut syrup. We gobbled down the smoked salmon Carpaccio with Chioggia beetroot, baby watercress, pine nuts, goats’ cheese and a velvety lemon dressing to bring it all together – a refreshing delight. Our only regret? Not drowning in one their new decadent monster shakes. Alas, there’s always next time.

P.S. Linda has also opened a new kosher store called Brioche in Glenhazel. Peppered with delicious sweet and savory treats, what better way to usher in the new season with this innovative new spot?
