Hello Joburgers – we love Chaplin’s. Not only is the food great, but the view of the Sandton Skyline is just amazing. Tucked in the corner of a tiny shopping center in Hurlingham – this grill has one of the best names around for it’s amazing steaks and meat dishes.
Chaplin’s found its roots in Melville in 1980 and Rainold Petersen who then moved to Hurlingham in 2012, changed the name of the now Chaplin’s Grill in tribute to his legendary Melville-based bistro – a gem amidst the fine dining establishments of Joburg in the 80′ & 90′s.
At Chaplin’s Grill Rainold revives, within a contemporary dining context, his passion for delivering a superior product of Food, Wine, Beer and exemplary service with a trademark hands-on approach.
The menu platforms a simple yet innovative take on the traditional urban grill where elements of international flavour distinguish.
Specialities include Calamari Salad in a Mustard-Dill Vinaigrette, Brinjal Mille Feuille with Mozzarella and Olive Tapenade, Venison, with the inclusion of memorable classics like roast Duck and Prawn Curry.
Not only do Chaplin’s do great meat, they are also banting and vegetarian friendly – as you know diversity makes the world go around, and we also love that you can order your shopping basket items while you dine.
There are many fresh cuts of meat that you can buy, including burgers and rump, as well as frozen cooked dinners such as soups and bolognaises etc to take home and enjoy with the family later on in the week.
They have their own generator on site, so never fear, if the power is out Chaplin’s Grill will still be cooking!
Make sure to book your table for a fun night out, or even your next work function.
