Clico turns 11…still a shining star!

Oct 5, 2017, Author: Bianca Spinner

With an abundance of restaurants to choose from, this is one we would select over and over again. The Clico Boutique Hotel and Restaurant are truly special… where food, drink and design blend effortlessly.

The location celebrates the Rosebank district and is comfortably nestled on the corner of Sturdee Avenue. The Clico restaurant opened in October 2015, and offers delicate European-style savoury recipes. The best news? The tasting menu changes monthly, and the a-la-carte menu changes biannually – so there’s always innovation and always something state-of-the-art to try.

The setting is intimate and cosy, with a beautiful fresh design element and a crisp aesthetic. We especially love the private champagne room, which seats up to ten people. It’s the perfect starry-eyed hub for you and your besties to enjoy over the festive season, or for any celebration really.

The six-course wine-pairing menu, which we relished in, captures the essence of seasonal flavours, using their natural essence and are sourced locally. The food is prepared precisely and served gracefully. Each course is impeccably balanced, with a well-imagined wine pairing thanks to chef Marnus Scholly.

Marnus is a graduate of The Chef School for Food and Wine, where he completed a diploma in Food Preparation and Culinary arts.

Expect specialized vintages such as Eagles Nest Merlot, Rijks Chenin Blanc and Morgenster Cab Franc, paired with delectable soups, butternut raviloli, decadent risottos, lamb shoulder and impala rump. Champagne in one hand and cuisine that highlights seasonable ingredients in the other… it’s a match made in culinary heaven!
