1. Take the kiddies for a mini hike in a nature reserve

Place: Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve – Peggy Vera Road, Kibler Park.

It’s known as the jewel of the south and we can understand why. Most of you probably haven’t heard of it before so it is a real hidden gem. This environment really showcases Jozi in all her green glory. Plus the youngsters can have some much needed outdoors fun, all, day, long, while you get in your weekly workout.

Price: FREE

Program: The Reserve is open to the public from sunrise to sunset seven days a week. The reserve association also organizes walks on the second and fourth Sunday of each month.

2. Take your fitness friend and the pooches to the weekly Parkrun

Place: They take place at various venues, from Alberts farm all the way to Delta Park and Lonehill.

The Parkrun organize free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. So whether you’re staying home for the holidays or traveling, you’re sure to find one near you. This is the perfect excuse to join forces with the community and keep healthy.

Program: Every Saturday morning at 8am sharp!

3. Picnic under the trees

Place: Modderfontein Nature Reserve.

This is the perfect spot to picnic under the evergreen trees. Pick a spot right by the waters edge and watch the ducks pass you by. It is truly a beautiful location!

Program: We recommend visiting on the weekend from 9am.

4. Window shopping down the streets of Parkhurst

Place: 4th Avenue from 6th to 14th Streets, Parkhurst.

Parkhurst has become a shopping hub, we love all the local brands and stores available. We love Hannah Lavery clothing, Good Leaf CBD skincare products and Pyjama Shop for the cutest, most comfy pyjamas. If it isn’t too disheartening, go for a squiz and dream of what could be.

Price: FREE (unless you’re a shopaholic).

Program: Most shops open from 9am
