Hangout with Alaskan metal band – 36 Crazyfists ahead of their SA gigs

Mar 8, 2018, Author: Hello Joburg

An Alaskan metal band? In South Africa? We had to find out more, of course…so we chatted exclusively with vocalist Brock Lindow ahead of their show in Johannesburg on Saturday 28th April at Rumours Rock City (supported by Only Forever, Newtown Knife Gang and Riddlebreak).

An Alaskan metal band is certainly something different – tell us how you formed and how 36 Crazyfists was born?

We came from a small scene here in Anchorage so pretty much everyone that was playing heavy music knew of each other, and when our previous bands disbanded we all linked up. The name we took from the movie Jackie Chan and the 36 Crazy Fists!

You are heading to Joburg soon to gig for us. Tell us a bit more about what fans can expect.

We are coming in with our new album so we plan on jamming a good balance of the old and new songs. The club vibe is always a bit more personal as well so I’m looking forward to that intimacy.

Your latest album is called Lanterns – why that name?

It represents a light source, a sense of hope, the songs on the album are filled with stories of survival and the tales that saw me through a very dark period of my life.

Where would we find you guys on your day off?

Exploring… the pubs 😉

Fave city in the world that you have ever performed?

Been all over the world and there are a lot of special places and the people make up a lot of what makes a place rule, but I’d say our hometown in anchorage is our favorite.

What would your dream gig be?

Metallica, Alice In Chains, Deftones, 36CF.

Whats next for 36 Crazyfists?

Touringggggggg forever.

Make sure to book your tickets (R 380) from as well as at Computicket outlets and Checkers stores.
