Pant gets a pay increase from India for World Cup year Star batsman Rishabh Pant has officially been made one of India’s best-paid cricketers after being promoted in the country’s latest national contracts. The 21-year-old made his test debut in England last year has now joined A-grade players earning a guaranteed $715 000 (R10 371 039,25) a year for national team duty. He now ranks amongst the 11 players who sit just below leading stars, skipper Virat Kohli, senior batsman Rohit Sharma and paceman Jasprit Bumrah, who are guaranteed at least $1 million (R14 504 950,00) each in the A-plus category.

An uphill battle to keep Boks in SA with overseas scouting According to Bulls Director of Rugby Alan Zondagh, it might become increasingly difficult to keep Springbok players on the national team after the upcoming Rugby World Cup as some huge amounts are being offered to players at the moment to join clubs overseas. Zondagh believes that while franchises and SA Rugby will do everything they can to retain players it will be very difficult to argue against the financial incentives.

Real Madrid secure Militao from Porto Real Madrid have clinched a deal to sign the 21-year-old Brazilian defender Eder Militao from Portuguese champions FC Porto from next season. The centre-back is the Spanish giants’ first signing since Zinedine Zidane returned to the club as coach for a second spell this week. Real said Militao would join on a four-year deal until 2025.
