Meet SA’s National Culinary Team  

While the athletes famous for their speed, athletic endurance and physical strength hit the headlines every four years, there’s a different Olympiad that takes place in Stuttgart every fourth year: the IKA Culinary Olympics. With this prestigious event nearing, the South Africa’s National Culinary Team have their sights set on bringing home gold. Lead by Trevor Boyd, the previous gold winner and the Executive Chef at the Michelangelo Hotel in Johannesburg, the team is hard at work honing their skills to compete on the global stage.

Protea Hotels by Marriott Pretoria Expansion 
Following an investment of approximately R120 million the Protea Hotel by Marriott Pretoria Hatfield has recently undergone an opening of additional facilities with the completion of a major construction project that started a year ago. The project brings the addition of an entire new wing to the hotel that houses new rooms and incorporates a number of additional amenities. With the addition of 86 new rooms, the hotel now boasts a total of 205 guestrooms. Other new features include the African Restaurant and Bar, additional meeting rooms and conference facilities, a gym and a games room. The additional conference facilities allow for the hotel to host up to 220 delegates, with 6 additional breakaway meeting rooms.
