This month it is Champagne Veuve Clicquot Rich, so get ready to sip your way through 2017, because everyone deserves a few bubbles from time to time. Special occasion? A Tuesday evening? Heck, we won’t judge…

Launch date: October 2015

How it’s made: Sparkling wine made according to Champenoise Method of secondary fermentation in bottle, using Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Then finished with a very high dosage (addition of sugar) to sweeten.

Flavors: Absolutely bursting with ripe stone fruits such as peach, apricot and ripe oranges with a touch of smokiness.

Tannins: Smooth as silk, no tannins.

Cool fact: Veuve Clicquot Rich is a ‘Doux’ style Champagne, meaning it’s sweet and was created to be enjoy in a fun way. It’s best served with ice cube in a large wine glass, ‘garnished’ with fruits slices such as orange, pineapples or peaches, as well as vegetable strips like cucumber, green peppers or celery sticks.

Hangover Cure: Have more Veuve Clicquot Rich with some crispy streaky bacon. The Ying and Yang combinations of sweet and salty will cure any hangover!

Best cocktail: Champagne cocktail.

Mix it up with a Veuve Clicquot Rich champagne cocktail: Mix Cognac or brandy with a cube of sugar. Add a dash of Angostura bitters. Finish off with Champagne Veuve Clicquot Rich, and a burnt orange zest dropped in the glass before serving. This is one of the world’s great classic cocktails – the ultimate refresher!
