Pinocchio at Joburg Theatre

We all love the story of the puppet maker who created a little boy of his own, which comes to life and has the most fun journey ever. This years pantomime promises to be a real hoot – and Joburg Theatre and Bernard Jay are proud to see the return to the age-old tradition of a female ‘principal boy’, when performer Kanyi Nokwe plays the role of Pinocchio.

Just to say the name Tobie Cronjé (Geppetto Spoletto) is almost enough to start people laughing. Probably South Africa’s best known comedy actor, he has for nearly five decades been entertaining audiences with his performances in theatre and operettas, film and television and even as a director of various dramas.

A great laugh from start to finish – peppered with “typical South African” jokes and some slapstick for the kids – this is an annual family treat not to be missed!

Date: 10th November – 30th December 2017
