It’s brand-spanking new, it’s super cool and it’s something we’ve been longing for – for ages. Frozen-dessert master Paul Ballen’s just-opened store at The Zone @ Rosebank is simply heaven! The flavours change every few days so you can always expect something fresh. Plus, for the health-conscious there’s Caralishious Coconut-Milk Ice-Cream – sugar- and dairy-free yet oh-so-tasty. Our must-try flavours Roasted Banana Nutella; Birthday Cake.
For a scoop or two (or three) of real Italian ice cream or sorbet, head straight to the family-run Tortellino d’Oro, which has been delighting Joburgers with authentic Italian food for over two decades. All ice creams and sorbets are freshly and lovingly made right there at the restaurant. Our must-try flavours are traditional Stracciatella or the exotic Kiwi.
Another favourite for authentic Italian ice cream, Ciao Baby serves some of the best frozen treats you’ll ever have the pleasure of indulging in. For a full-on Italian experience (without leaving Jozi), grab a gelato and take a stroll through Montecasino’s piazza. Our must-try flavours are Malaga and Amarena- mmmm yum!
Not only will you find decadent ice creams of every flavour, Häagen-Dazs also creates the most delectable sorbets in town, as well as delicious sundaes, banana splits and shakes. After you’ve had your ice-cream fix, you’ll be properly fuelled for a glitzy Melrose Arch shopping spree. Our must-try flavours are Raspberry, Cookie Dough Chip, Salted Caramel and a longstanding best: the Min Choc-Chip.
Who says you can’t buy happiness? Eating divine dessert in Tashas Le Parc’s luxe, the Paris-inspired setting is our idea of absolute bliss. This is Joburg’s in crowd’s hangout of choice, so you could do some celeb-spotting while savouring your ice cream. Why not add some macaroons while you’re at it. Our must-try flavour? Definitely Pistachio- but it is an acquired taste.
