Aug 8, 2017, Author: Hello Joburg

If like us, Hello Joburgers, you are REALLY looking forward to your Women’s Day public holiday day off work, but are not really sure what to do with a whole day off – here are our Top 5 ideas of things to keep you out of mischief!

Have fun making your own Gin Cocktails

Musgrave Gin is one of our fave gin’s – and we love the beautiful pinky colour. Also, super refreshing, just saying. So why not get the girls around for lunch – and get creative. Each guest is to bring their own fun gin recipe – and an afternoon of cocktails ensues…

Here is our cocktail suggestion…

Bugs and Roses (courtesy of mixicologist Owen O’Reilly)

Ingredients:

35ml Musgrave pink
25ml Tawny Port
15ml Orgeat syrup (a sweet syrup made from almonds, sugar, and rose water)
25ml fresh beetroot juice
15ml cellulose
rose petals

Method:

Shake and strain and serve garnished with rose petals. Serves 1. Increase the quantities according to how many you want to make.

Laugh until you cry with Trevor Noah

Trevor Noah, one of South Africa’s most loved comedic exports, returns home for a brand new stand-up comedy tour – this one is titled “There is a Gupta on My Stoep” and is sure to have you crying with laughter in no time. And as we know – laughter is the best medicine!

As he puts it – this visit is thus timed ‘not because Donald Trump kicked me out, but because I would like to do a show for you at the TicketPro Dome’. What a card, really – and possibly also one of our biggest exports!

With all-new material focusing on how life has changed for the comedian after scoring his international big break when he replaced John Stewart as the host of The Daily Show, this show is sure to please his many fans.

Starts at 20:00 Cost: R405 – R1,400

Get Healthy and Play with Horses

Horses are pretty powerful creatures that represent life force, passion and power, just the traits we love – so why not spend Women’s Day in a beautiful location in Sun Valley, Kyalami. Kick off at 09h00 with some empowering yoga flow and meditation under a lovely big tree, with horses grazing in the background.

After Yoga you will learn how to lead a horse around an obstacle course and play with them. This is a very empowering and freeing experience, and by then you will have worked up an appetite after all the morning activities – so you can enjoy a delicious vegan and healthy lunch.

This day will leave you feeling empowered, renewed and reconnected. All women welcome! No yoga or horse experience necessary.

Cost: R 800 per person. Book here
