Poison of the month: Boet Beer

Produced in the Valley of wine and roses, the Boet Beer Range calls the quaint village of Robertson its home. The range is brewed using state of the art equipment using the finest mountain water and the best-imported malt and hops. It’s the perfect accompaniment to any braai this heritage month!  

Launch date: The range was launched in October 2016  

How it is made: Brewed with malted barley, hops, water and Yeast 

Styles: Lager, Golden Ale, Pale Ale, American Pale Ale and English IPA

Hoppiness: 

Lager – A golden fresh and crisp lager with a well-balanced bitterness
Golden Ale – Earthy hints of hops and malty sweetness
Pale Ale – Traditional ale with balanced malt and a fruity hops flavour
American Pale Ale – Full bodied modern style pale ale packed with American hops
English IPA – Medium bitterness and a hint of soft citrus hops flavour  

Cool fact: From chemical analysis on pottery, research suggests that beer has been brewed in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia as long as 7 000 years ago.

Try one: At the Four Cousins tasting room in the heart of Robertson or purchase from any of the craft beer stockists, some Liquor City outlets and select Food Lovers shops in Johannesburg, Loco Liquor as well as some independent bottle stores.  

Best cocktail: We recommend finding your favourite Boet Beer style and enjoying it chilled with family and friends.  Alternatively, a craft beer shandy with a strongly flavoured beer like Boet’s American Pale Ale. All you need is lemonade and a lemon slice to garnish! It couldn’t get easier!
