Oct 17, 2017, Author: Hello Joburg

It’s been a while since we’ve been introduced to a young fashion brand that stands for nothing but the essence of a women, Hello Joburgers. With the Festive Season hot on our heels, Oddity SA’s SS17 pieces are essential for all those holiday social media updates.

In an exclusive privé launch at Open Maboneng recently, Oddity SA, a homegrown women’s clothing brand, shared the key looks of their Spring/Summer collection, and we’ve fallen deeply in love with some of the items. The collection has been titled, Solitude, as a dedication to the loneliness that comes with diversity.

“This collection came about as a way convey the message that it’s okay to be alone sometimes, because aloneness brings about self-discovery.” Explains Bokang Matlosa, co-founder of the brand, “Once in solitude one has no option but to reflect one’s self and dig deep into who they are.” She continues. The message remains to revel in your diversity, especially in the moments where loneliness breezes in to your life.

By being delicate in creation yet bold in design, the monochromatic collection is a timeless ode to the Spring-Summer season. Oddity rises above the norm of what’s expected of a high-end women’s clothing brand, by creating artwork whose versatility flows with the modern feminine figure in all of her personas.

“The goal was to design items that would outlast trends and fads,” elaborates Matlosa. “The collection comprises of evening wear that is equally glamorous and comfortable. Effortlessness is key for this timeless style.”

They’re a young brand you have to look out for this season, especially if your plan is to stand out this festive season, you’ll find what you’re looking for in the collection. The future of Oddity will see a lot more detail in textiles, as they hope to eventually create their own fabrics, as to manipulate it to aptly suit their designs.
