Level 3 lockdown, hooray! Time to try a new Sandton dining destination.

second story restaurant interior hello joburg

Lockdown level three has landed and we are oh so happy about it! Whether it’s a casual lunch or dinner, brunch or a double date, name it they’ll deliver. This restaurant has fast become one of our favorites and here’s why.

Firstly they have a vegetarian heavy menu, they also have a deep appreciation for the finest ingredients and they’re consistent, you know what you want and they deliver it superbly every single time. The menu is vibrant, there are so many options one for each palette but it’s definitely not too overwhelming.

We recommend visiting on a Monday because they have the best meat free Monday options! Marvel at its creativity when the crispy quinoa and avo salad arrives or feast on the gloriously gloopy vegan nachos, a genius synthesis of guac and hummus.

And although you might not believe us, their vegan sushi is out of this world the best in town. Their crispy tofu roll is unlike anything you’ve ever eaten before. It is so tasty yet delicate, so crispy and succulent, the perfect balance of umami and all dressed up with a spicy vegan mayo. We attest to it being the cream of the crop but you can try it out for yourself and let us know what you think.

If you’re plant-based averse they have the most delectable pastas, even offering carb-clever zucchini noodles as an option, a cooked to perfection rib eye on the bone and some of the yummiest sweet potato fries.

Oh and if you need an excuse to return, they offer James Beard American pancakes served all day with seductive maple syrup, butter and whipped cream.
