Let’s be frank – Voodoo Lily needed a revamp. In fact, they were desperate for one. Cue Larry Hodes, restauranteur behind Arbour Café & Courtyard and Calexico, and his wingman Joshua Simon who also happens to be the head chef. With a little voodoo, they’ve transformed the once stale location into a va-va-voom New York-style restaurant.

The 160-seater indoor-outdoor space is stunningly decorated with chic wallpaper and exclusively curated mosaics, but what’s sure to create the most buzz is the backbone of the restaurant, the little library-cum-workstation nook. And, being located in the snooty suburb of Birdhaven, we’re sure it will quickly become one of the coolest places to dine at with Scruffy.

The dishes on chef Joshua’s menu stem from his travels around the world, from a loaded latke recipe from bubbe to a gnocchi broccolini that he stumbled upon while yachting. It’s kinda weird, but we’re fans! Side note: don’t platz, but they serve challah toast and macon.
