Fancy a burger, Hello Joburgers? Of course you do. Joburg’s love of a meaty marvel shows no sign of dying out, having outlived the likes of finger lickin’ fried chicken and loaded fries washed down with a milkshake. But not all burgers are born the same, and some of the city’s best can be found – in our not-so-humble opinion – at a brand-new burger joint that’s just opened at The MARC: Ribs & Burgers. Think juice-seeping, humming with flavour and far more complex in creation than burgers are ever given credit for.

Ribs & Burgers is a global brand situated in Australia and the UK that’s fast becoming one of South Africa’s favourite boutique fast-food restaurants. Their first restaurant that opened in SA is located at Pretoria’s Menlyn Maine precinct. The opening of a second restaurant at The MARC in the heart of Sandton at the end of last year was warmly welcomed by locals, who can now tuck into premium burgers, wholesome ribs, free-range chicken, wings, salads and more, all in a welcoming and authentic environment.
The concept behind the Ribs & Burgers brand is simple: they like to keep in real. In a world of fast and elaborate food fads, they’re all about the basics done beautifully. Their burgers are made from the best cuts of grass-fed, hormone-free, 100% pure beef with nothing added – not even salt and pepper.

On the menu, we have a few favourite burgers, such as the 200g Mighty Big Cheese topped with American cheese, and the Southern Chicken – a crispy chicken breast topped with lettuce, onions, pickles, double cheese and chipotle-pink sauce. The Butcher’s Best section on the menu also boasts some winning dishes like the 400g grass-fed rump or the 450g lamb loin chop.
For vegetarians, standouts include a grilled veggie stack with giant mushrooms and a homemade Moroccan falafel patty topped with tzatziki and aioli. For those feeling a little less indulgent, there are fresh and healthy wraps and salads, ranging from a classic village halloumi, to a beetroot, feta and walnut salad option. If you don’t happen to be watching your waistline when you visit, the extra-thick shakes are a must-try. All three flavours – Milo, vanilla malt and salted caramel – go down a treat!
